Having been introduced to carpark hockey late one night in 2000 & then meeting my partner at a game of drop-in hockey in 2002 at Stafford I found that this game once played gets into your blood & that’s it – your addicted. No one ever thought there would come the day when Chris Staneke would say to his girlfriend (me) – you spend too much time on hockey! Quite a turn-up coming from the original Hockey Head himself. Remembering our first date when all they talked about was hockey, posters of Stevie Yzerman on the wall, bobble heads of fav NHL players, video games..oh my god I thought – this will never work – they’re worse than footballers – was I doomed to be a ‘hockey widow’?

First attempts at ‘if you can’t beat them join them’ & become a ‘hockey chick’ were very unsatisfactory.. either it was drop-in with all the guns & you skated like forest gump up & down the rink & never touched the puck & basically just got in everyone’s way or learning with children which was even more demoralizing. These small people are better skaters, have no fear & don’t have as far to fall. There I also met & sympathized with ‘hockey parents’ who travel to end of the earth & back & then only ever get to sit on the sidelines & watch & never know how much fun they were missing out on.

On sept 04 twenty potentials signed up at Digi & were introduced to my fav addiction… and so RinkRats Adult Beginner Inline hockey was born & our Fun & Friendly Fridays League.
