RINKRATS: “After six straight wins, the Rink Rats streak was finally broken at the hands of the Bundamba/Toowoomba Highlanders last Wednesday night. The Highlanders were the stronger team right from the start, piling on the pressure with strong forechecking, leaving the Rats with little time think. They were ahead by 4 goals before the Rink Rats managed to score. After receiving a pass from Beyers, Canham (81) took the puck behind the net, and with an amazinging display of skill, managed to scoop the puck up onto the end of his stick to score with a waist high wrap around. Staight from the restart, the Rats managed to find the net again, with a lucky pass from O’Leary (27), finding Canham (44) unmarked infront of the net. The Rink Rats looked to be making a comeback, and again from the faceoff they gained control, and O’Leary (27) found himself with a breakaway opportunity from half way. He drifted to the right, deeked to the left and backhanded the puck past the goalie, but with a resounding “ding” the puck bounced off the post and back out. Sadly that sound marked the end of the comeback for the Rats. As the second half began, both teams again were hard at it, both making strong attacks, but it was not to be for the Rats, their shot conversion was at a low 8.33% against the Highlanders 29.57%, which saw Bundamba/Toowoomba score another 4 goals to win the game 8 – 2. The Rink Rats now look forward to taking on the Sunshine Coast team this coming Wednesday the 2nd of September again late at 9:30pm, where they hope to get back to their winning ways.” – RRR
