What
is Sk8Fit?
Over a dozen different programs on wheels. Bored with you old workout regime - well combine
your favourite outdoor activity, 1 skate nazi, a little sweat,
some fun physical challenges and welcome to the wonderful
world of Sk8Fit!
Sk8Fit is
off-rink training. It started with the ice and inline hockey
players who couldn't afford to waste valuable rink time on
fitness. Rink time which is expensive and hard to access is
reserved for skills, drills and games. It has now expanded
to a much greater market than just hockey players who are
discovering its many benefits.
Why Sk8Fit?
Fitness on
wheels is lower impact then jogging or running.
Exercising outdoors by the river or the Kang pt cliffs is
way more inspiring. We spend too much time already indoors
at work all week.
Group exercise is supportive, motivating & very social.
Variety is the key to adhering to an exercise program &
the programs provide plenty of that.
Research shows that you are more likely to exercise if it's
an activity that you enjoy. No worries there - it is FUN!
The body & the mind also need to be constantly challenged
in different ways for adaptions to be made.
In an era where time is a precious commodity Sk8Fit combines
your favourite recreational activity, a great bunch of people
& a good solid workout. You're so busy enjoying yourself
that you haven't even realized you've just run more stairs
then you've ever run in your life!
Cross-Training
There are some segments of the programs that cannot be performed
on skates (like plyometrics) so a good pair of runners needs
to be thrown in the back pack.
Prerequisites
About half
of the programs require an Intermediate level of inline skating
skills to participate. You must be able to safely stride,
turn, stop & negotiate terrain. The programs that are
suitable for beginner or non-skaters are marked on the schedule.
If in doubt please contact us & we can arrange to get
you up to speed in no time.
Most programs have been
modified to accommodate beginner or non-skaters - all that's
required is a good pair of runners. Downside is you have to
run down that hill as well as up it and we get to roll!
