SK8FIT PROGRAMS

There are 2 sk8fit sessions per week – every Mon 7.00-8.30pm & Wed 6.30-8.00pm. Wednesday night has been added for those that need an extra training session and push themselves that bit harder to achieve their goals.

Note: Most programs can be done in runners instead of skates if your skating skills are not quite up to speed yet or simply for some cross training. Runners are also used for the plyometric sessions, beep tests, shuttle runs etc.

Both weekly classes run the same rotating program of events so come to either or for the extra keen, try both!

SK8-2-Ski Training

Each winter sk8fit becomes a great way to get fit for the slopes. Skating & skiing have very similar movement patterns & use the same major muscle groups.

We will be doing lots of leg work, skipping, jumps etc. This is the same type of workout for Snow Skiing physios recommend to prepare your body for skiing.

The Stairmaster:
Our version is on skates of course.
Meeting point: Lower River Terrace.

Regatta Run:
Pit yourself against the five wheel fiends and see how fast you really are. Approx 4km course followed by plyometrics at The Domain.
Meeting point: Lower River Terrace.

Heartbreak Hill:
You would be correct in assuming this one is not for the faint hearted.
Meeting point: Top of Kangaroo Point Cliffs at the last set of car parks on River Terrace by the big stairs.

A Walk in the Park:
Don’t be fooled, although the scenery at Newfarm Park is charming, this workout is not.
Meeting point: The Rotunda in the park (about three quarters of the way round).

Short Circuit:
Combines skating with BCC Active & Healthy Park stations at West End.
Meeting point: Corner of Riverview Drive and Victoria Street, West End (on the far side of the rowing sheds).

Point Break:
Take on the mighty Kangaroo Point Cliffs in this circuit.
Meeting point: Lower River Terrace.

2K OK:
Involves a series of 2km runs. Long and flat so wear your speed skates!
Meeting point: Riverview Drive, West End. Cnr or Jane Street. Near the rowing sheds.

On Your Marks:
Fastest out of the blocks with this one. You’ll feel the need for speed.
Meeting point: Top of Kangaroo Point Cliffs at the last set of car parks on River Terrace by the big stairs.

Boot Camp:
Julie turns drill sergeant and makes the troops get down and dirty. You’ll have to push, pull, drag and slalom your way through this one.
Meeting point: Lower River Terrace.

Hawsey’s House of Horror:
If it rains, be afraid, be very afraid. There is no escape here, Julie gets to torture some of those areas we can’t normally target outdoors. Running shoes are required as this circuit is performed without skates.
Meeting point: Call Julie for location details.

Never Ending Story:
A nice easy 4km blast across the Story Bridge (and back of course).
Meeting point: Top of Kangaroo Point Cliffs at
the last set of carparks on River Tce by the big stairs.

The Terminator:
This one we get to run the infamous Kangaroo Point Cliff Stairs – you know the ones I mean – the really big ones. Legs get well & truly terminated in this one – the skate home is quite a challenge with jelly legs.
Meeting point: Lower River Terrace.
Sandshoes required.

The Eliminator:
A series of feats of strength. Just what you need to test your resolve after a session of stair running. Find out what a ‘Beep Test’ is…sounds pretty innocent but this one’s not called The Eliminator for nothing!
Meeting point: Lower River Tce.

‘Wet, Wet, Wet’
For a cool change during the hotter months we take to the pool for some aqua sessions
Meeting point: Call Julie for location details

‘The Rough End of the Pineapple’
Shuttle run test, agility course & more.
Meeting point: Call Julie for location details

‘Go Go GreenBridge’
Try out our latest Brisbane icon. Over the bridge & back & over & back & over & back… you get the idea.
Meeting place – Dutton Park Ferry Carpark

Hop skip & a Jump:
Some hill running followed by plyometrics
Meeting point: Call Julie for location details

Groundhog Day:
It’ll feel just like that as Julie keeps yelling ‘again’! 40-20 shuttles runs
Meeting point: Call Julie for location details

* Most programs can be done in either recreational skates or runners
